Project start-up meeting


The start-up meeting took place on December 16-19, 2010, at Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction (YSUAC). The following persons have participated in the meeting:

The main agenda of the start-up meeting is:

·  December 16: a one-day visit to the 4 Armenian partners. At the three Armenian partner universities, the meeting participants met the rector and also visited the department directly involved in the Tempus project.

·  Morning of December 17: opening ceremony of the Tempus project at YSUAC. About 40 persons, including representatives of all GIDEC partner institutions and major Armenian mass media, participated in the ceremony. Lana Karlova from National Tempus Office of Armenia has also attended the ceremony. Each partner institution gave a short introduction of the institution and the project coordinator (Huaan Fan) presented the main features of the project. After the ceremony, the coordinator and YSUAC representatives were interviewed separately by the national television of Armenia as well as several newspapers.

· December 17-18: project planning meeting with local coordinators (contact persons) of all partner institutions.

· December 19: study tour to the Sevan Lake on ecological problems in the lake region and how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be used to resolve these problems.

The project planning meeting has discussed following issues:

  1. Review of the project plan

  2. Establishment of the project management group

  3. Budget revision

  4. Project co-financing

  5. Partnership agreement between KTH and partner institutions

  6. Financial reporting rules

  7. Project web sites

  8. English language training course for partner country (PC) staff

  9. Preparation of GIS/geodesy training courses

  10. Preparation of student obility

  11. Establishment of a national advisory board in each PC

  12. Survey among geodesy/GIS stakeholders

  13. Purchase of equipment

A minutes from the start-up meeting has been prepared by the coordinator and sent in January 2011 to meeting participants as well as the National Tempus Officers (NTO) and Tempus officer at EACEA.
