In addition, the GIS Laboratory at YSUAC is equipped with 2 Trimble GNSS receivers (R7), 3 Trimble total stations (1 servo model) and 4 levels (1 digital, 3 automatic levels). ASAU's GIS Laboratory has obtained 2 Trimble total stattions and 2 automatic levels for land surveying purpose.
The opening ceremonies took place at both YSUAC and ASAU on November 17, 2011. Rectors, vice-rectors, deans, teachers and students participated in the ceremonies, together with the participants of the GIDEC training course on advanced GIS applications. Mass media and a number of Armenian geodesy/GIS stakeholders also attended the ceremonies. In the morning of November 17, the Armenian national radio station in advance announced the forthcoming opening ceremony at YSAUAC. The national TV station came to the ceremony at YSUAC and interviewed the project coordinator and Armenian staff. The interview was sent on TV in the evening of the same day.
In connection with the opening ceremonies, the Armenian National Tempus Officer, Ms Lana Karlova, made a monitoring visit to the GIDEC project. She attended different GIDEC events, such as opening ceremony at YSUAC, meeting with the Armenian National Advisory Board, GIDEC curriculum meeting and GIDEC project management meeting.
On the same day of the opening ceremonies, the Armenian National Advisory Board had its meeting at YSUAC. A short project presentation was provided to the members. Members presented their organizations and their needs and requirements on geodesy and GIS educations. In particular, several members emphasized the needs and wishs to cooperation on re-training of working professionals.
